A Grand Gate for a Gilded Age Gem. We were honored to create the custom Wrought Iron Driveway Gate for Clarendon Court, one of Newport, Rhode Island’s most storied mansions.
Designed in 1904 by renowned architect Horace Trumbauer, Clarendon Court is a striking example of French Neo-Classical architecture in smooth sandstone. Beyond its elegant design, the mansion is known for its colorful history, most famously as the home of Claus and Sunny von Bülow, whose scandalous legal saga captured national headlines in the 1980s.
Hollywood also made its mark here: Clarendon Court served as a filming location for the 1956 classic High Society, starring Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.
For this project, we designed a bespoke driveway gate with French Neo-Classical lines, adorned with a golden face and floral icons that echo the estate’s refined legacy. Scroll down to see some of the glorious details up close.
